International Fashion Week (IFW), hosted by Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast, is just around the corner. Over the weekend I got a sneaky peak at the dress rehearsals and was blown away by the designers, models and styling… it’s got me very excited about the shows in September and about Summer in general!
What I’m really excited about though, is the Ethical Design Show. Less than a year ago I approached the Director of IFW, Jacinta Richmond, with the idea of including some eco and ethical fashion in the main group show. We got to work and have had such a great response that IFW will have it’s very own Ethical Design Show on September 8.
The labels showing are doing beautiful things around the world, with many of them supporting under-developed communities in Africa, Cambodia and Bangladesh. They are committed to creating a better world and the Ethical Design Show is a fantastic way for us to shine a light on their work and support them. It’s also the perfect platform to show the public that eco and ethical fashion is just as beautiful, stylish and cutting edge (if not more so) than any other fashion label. Next year, the Ethical Design Show will step up it’s ethical credentials another notch and be 100% cruelty-free as well. Woohoo!
I was lucky enough to have a quick chat with the Director of IFW, Jacinta Richmond, about the Ethical Design Show, Frocks in the Vines and some of the other exciting events happening during IFW in September 2012. I also got to chat with Di Stitt about her ethical fashion label, One Colour – how it all began, what makes it eco-friendly and ethical and what we can expect to see when One Colour shows at IFW.
IFW is being hosted by Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast, QLD, Australia from 4-9 September 2012. For more information, check out www.internationalfashionweek.com.au
In the video I’m wearing my favourite Sanctus Stones Motivational Jewellery piece “Swallow” & make up by Adorn Mineral Cosmetics.
I hope to see you at the shows!
