Have you ever gotten to a point in your life where you look around and go, “Hang on, how did I even get here?!” That was me a couple of weeks ago.
On the verge of sickness.
And pretty annoyed at myself that I had let myself get to this point.
I had taken on too much work, and was reminiscing about the days when we were living in the bush in a recycled shipping container (you can read more about that here).
It’s just so easy to get caught up in the world. I had developed a fear about not having enough money and I had been struggling to sit down and do my meditation each day, which is the MOST important part of my life. I wasn’t able to spend much time with my little family and my level of self-care had dropped significantly.
Straight after a speaking tour all about Self-Love and Sisterhood with 3 other very inspiring women, I was feel pretty bad about myself. To start with, I was feeling like a fraud!
But then I remembered the one thing I’m always harping on about – be gentle.
Despite what it may look like in your facebook feed, we are not all living these perfect, unblemished lives. We are ALWAYS growing, learning and bettering ourselves. And sometimes we are just taking a few steps backwards so that we can move forwards again.
So, even though I was feeling fragile and exhausted, I decided to try to get on with my week and try to make some positive changes.
And by a beautiful twist of fate, my week ended up including 4 amazing events:
- I met with the beautiful Kim Morrison and Stacy Mackellar from Twenty8 Skincare.
- I met with a business coach, the very inspiring and successful Genine Howard.
- This amazing Raw Beauty Workshop was announced which I am so excited to be a part of.
- I had an Enneagram discovery session with Susana Frioni.
Kim, Stacy and Genine were all very inspiring, as business women and as role models. They all encouraged me to do what Dave had been telling me to do for weeks – quit my ‘day’ job! I was working at a resort and while I love everyone that works there, it was sucking the life out of me and leaving me less and less time to focus on what I’m passionate about, like SHINE. But when you are stuck in a certain mindset, it can seem so so scary to quit. Genine reminded me that things are always OK.
As any budding entrepreneur will know, taking that leap of faith that your business is actually going to go to that next step and support you is HUGE. I’ve always had lots of projects on the side but I’ve always had some sort of job on top of it all so that I don’t feel like I need to stress about money. But when I actually sat down and worked out how much money I need to survive, I realised that I could afford to leave. Sometimes all you need to do is write it down.
Then the Raw Beauty Workshop was announced for the Gold Coast AND the Sunshine Coast and I was reminded of all the amazing things I have coming up and that I’m excited to be a part of. I thought, “I can do this.”
I finished up the week by having an enneagram session with Susana. It was raw and revealing. If you ever want to learn a little bit more about yourself or make some changes in your life, I highly recommend it. She’s amazing.
By the next week, I was finishing up at my day job and slowly recovering. Now I’m working on Shine full time, getting the next Personal Development Course and the Model Masterclass ready for a new bunch of students.
SIDE NOTE: I am still very busy with a few projects and I’ve realised that I always will be – I secretly love it! Now I’m just trying to focus on prioritising and making sure I fit in some chill-out time.
So some tips I learnt about turning your life around when you feel like you are not quite on the right track:
- Be gentle with yourself.
- Write down what you are afraid of, what’s bothering you and/or what you want to change – seeing it on paper makes such a difference.
- Learn something new – either about yourself or that will help you to get back on track.
- Ask for help & find some support amongst friends, colleagues or even a business or life coach.
- Trust your heart & follow your instincts, no one knows what’s best for you better than you!
- Start small and remember the first tip – be gentle with yourself.
Lots of love,
