About a year ago, my partner, Dave, our puppy Trudi, and I moved back up to the Sunshine Coast after I had to have treatment in Brisbane. It’s such a beautiful part of the world and there is so much to see and do up here so I thought I would share some of my favourite places with you.
Montville and Maleny are about 1.5hrs drive north of Brisbane and are situated up on top of the Blackall Range. Montville is such a cute town to walk through but very touristy and there is nothing much there that I can actually eat – its a very “high tea and scones” sort of place. There are some beautiful walks nearby though at Lake Baroon and Kondalilla Falls. Its the perfect part of the world to get back to nature. Maleny, on the other hand, is more for the locals and filled with inspiring artists, yoga teachers, awesome food, cute vintage & antique stores, lovely book stores and it’s own very successful Co-op. Maleny is also home to the best cafe on the PLANET – Kind Living Cafe.
Maleny has lots of cute little shops and is a bigger town than Montville so there is more to explore. They are about 15mins from each other so it’s easy to do them both in a day. Below is one of the cutest little stores in Maleny, Magnolia Lane.
If you are ever at Maleny (or even if you are not), you simply HAVE to go to Kind Living Cafe for lunch. Lucy and the staff are such beautiful people and their meals are nothing short of amazing. As a friend of ours said the other day, the presentation and incredible taste of each meal is what you would expect in New York, not the little town of Maleny. Kind Living Cafe is a 100% vegetarian cafe with most of the options being vegan and more than half of the menu also being raw.
Lots of people love Kind Living Cafe – here are some reviews:
Do you live on the Sunshine Coast or have you visited? What’s your favourite place?
