– Natural Beauty –
Last year we ended up on the Today Show showing Australia how to use food as make up (it doesn’t get more natural than putting cacao and spirulina on your face!) but this year the focus has shifted to how beauty begins in the belly.
I think this is such an important aspect of beauty to focus on because we all want a ‘quick-fix’ product that’s going to make our skin glow and forget that our skin is a reflection of what’s going on on the inside. So if we want glowing, gorgeous, healthy skin, we have to start with the basics like hydration, fruits and vegetables and nourishing the body from the inside out. There are lots of incredible free webinars and live events happening all next week (19-23 October).read more
Valentine's Day, like many other holidays in the calendar, has become a giant billboard for the sale of more stuff. A guilt-driven campaign to ensure that you feel like you need to spend a fortune on your partner and, if you don't, then you obviously don't love them...read more
What is it about perfume? So many women cannot handle the thought of leaving the house without their signature scent. I remember when I was first old enough to be allowed to wear perfume....it was such a tough decision to decide what kind of woman you wanted to be....read more
Natural ‘beauty’ is not just for the girls. According to the Environmental Working Group, men are slathering themselves with an average of 85 chemicals per day. And let’s face it, men are incorporating more in to their grooming regime than ever before and it’s not going to stop anytime soon! My partner, Davey is no exception. He’s obsessed with his beard, often linking it to the very essence of his manhood.read more
The most asked question I get when it comes to switching to natural is, “Do natural deodorants really work?” I have tried & tested A LOT of them over the last few years so I thought Natural Beauty Week was the perfect time to share my very technical findings. After all, a natural deodorant is no good if it doesn’t do it’s job!read more
In it's second year, Natural Beauty Week is bigger and better than ever! Launching today, 20th October, it's been a whirlwind of preparation for the College of Natural Beauty to inspire Australians to #switchtonatural. Last year hundreds of Australians jumped on...read more
From discussions with friends, students, family and online musings, I've gathered that quite a few people are a little bit scared of mineral make up. Or perhaps feel as though it might not work as well as the 'proper stuff.' I get it. It can be a different...read more
Did you know one of nature’s most effective moisturisers can be found in your very own kitchen? Yes beauty addicts – the organic avocado is an ideal chemical-free moisturiser for the face, hair and eye area and is a staple part of my own beauty routine. This humble fruit contains a nourishing and extremely deep penetrating oil, is rich in vitamins A, D and E, lecithin and potassium, commonly known as the youth mineral. Sound good?read more
I am a little bit obsessed with all things natural, eco-friendly and beautiful. You may know this about me already. There are plenty of things out there – fashion, beauty, make up, homewares and more – that all claim to be green, sustainable, organic, insert-latest-‘it’-word-here, but I find that if they are any of these things then they are usually lacking somewhere else. What I’m trying to say in a gentle way is that often the green stuff sucks.read more
Last week I was asked to comment on a news article about Aspirin facials. I had never heard of them before so I started researching and found the idea quite alarming. So I created a safe, yummy alternative.read more
This week is Natural Beauty Week! I’m so excited to be a part of this fantastic awareness campaign by the College of Natural Beauty.
Natural Beauty Week is all about getting back to basics with your cosmetics and beauty products and raising awareness of the health and environmental impacts of chemicals in your beauty cabinet. It’s also about WINNING!read more
Let’s face it, we all want to be bronzed Brazilian goddesses. For most of us, that can only happen if we are willing to risk getting skin cancer and are happy to head down the path of eventually being compared to a leather handbag OR by applying some sort of fake tan.read more
A few weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of enjoying a girly spa date at the College of Natural Beauty clinic. The professional clinic is staffed by senior students at the College and I have to say that I was extremely impressed.read more
Summer is on it’s way, I can feel it! But in the meantime it’s still pretty cold and the wind is brutal. One of the first things I notice in winter is how dry my skin can get. So, in case you are feeling the effects of winter on your skin just as much as me, here is a little list of things you can do to get through until the warmer months…read more
I recently got to work with my beautiful friends, Ann Lodberg – incredible make up artist & Anna Gahm – amazing photographer, on a beauty shoot. Ann has recently decided to cut out all animal products from her diet and was pretty excited about the opportunity to try out some 100% cruelty-free and toxic-free mineral make up. I’ve tried loads of Adorn products and love them but I was really keen to hear some feedback from a pro. Here’s what Ann had to say…read more
Last week I was lucky enough to attend a Marie Claire ‘I Feel Beautiful’ event in Brisbane. I was invited along by my beautiful friend Jess from I Died and Went to Vintage. So we went along not really knowing much about it. The event was inspired by the I Feel Beautiful study, which Marie Claire conducted in association with Priceline. The Australia-wide survey asked over 12,000 women, “What makes you feel beautiful?” The results are interesting and I found them quite surprising – here are some of the ones that stood out for me…read more
As I’ve mentioned previously, I have a beautiful relationship with Adorn Mineral Cosmetics (You can read about this more over at their blog). Without going in to the details, it means I am lucky enough to try out some of their amazing, toxic-free, cruelty-free products. So far I have not been disappointed – all of their products are so beautiful and definitely top any other brand of make up I’ve tried – eco/vegan or otherwise. In comparison to brands like MAC, Adorn products provide great coverage and colour, but feel light as a feather. You can literally fall asleep in them and have no problems at all (I seem to have made a bad habit of this!).read more
I recently came across this poem by Sam Levenson which is just lovely and sweet, so I thought I’d share it with you.
It was apparently a favourite poem of one of the most beautiful women of all time, Audrey Hepburn.
So my friends, if you want to be as beautiful as Miss Audrey, then take heed of these lovely, simple words…read more
Hi everyone! Recently I listed all of my favourite skin care products (you can check out this post here) and the brand that features the most on that list is Montville Organic Skincare (MOS). I came across MOS a few months ago when the founder, Amanda Tunney, decided to go vegan and has since made the decision to take her skin care label in that direction as well.read more
I've had some queries, comments and emails lately asking about which skin care products I use. So rather than keep replying one by one, I thought it was time to open up my bathroom cabinet and show you what's inside! They are all vegan and as natural as possible. My...read more
